Stretch Goal #9 Unlocked! Vote Cards Upgraded!
Posted by Travis Hancock (Creator)

Backers and Friends,

Like true pirates you have taken that 9th stretch goal and blown it out of the water!

Each copy of the game will now include 2 special "double-vote" Vote cards. These cards provide a tinge of hope for the losing side, and can be saved to use in just the right moment to win a crucial Attack, beat the odds in a Mutiny, or pull an upset in a Brawl. We've been playing with these and love the extra little strategy they add to the game! Here's a look at 3 of the 30 regular Vote cards, as well as the 2 new "double-vote" Vote cards:

You'll also notice that all Vote cards that formerly had a blank on the Mutiny section will instead show this beautiful new helm illustration from Sarah. If you play a helm in a Mutiny it indicates that your captain still has your support and you'd like him to remain on the ship (for now).

The clock is ticking for this campaign and we now only have 6 days to go! Now is the time to get your procrastinating friends on board or they will miss out. We have another stretch goal in our sights (the explosion token) and with your help we’ll be able to reach it!

Stretch Goal #10 Unlocked! The Explosion Token has Arrived!
Posted by Travis Hancock (Creator)

Backers and Friends,

Congratulations, you have unlocked the explosion token!

We are thrilled to now include this wooden token in every copy of the game. When the Black Powder card is revealed the explosion token is placed on one of the rowboats, leaving it burning and unusable for the rest of the game. This token will destroy the hopes of many a marooned pirate.

Because of your incredible support, Tortuga 1667 has now been upgraded with all 10 stretch goals! We’re very happy with the balance of the game, the upgraded rulebook, and the high quality of the cards, the rubber playing mat, the wooden pieces, the burlap bag, and the faux book.

Rather than add more stretch goals, we will instead be releasing a small “daily bonus” on each of the final 3 days of the campaign. No matter how much more money is raised, we want to make sure that you receive these bonuses as our way of saying thank you! These will be posted daily on the campaign page starting tomorrow.

Daily Rewards #1 and #2!
Posted by Travis Hancock (Creator)

Backers and Friends,

We’re happy to announce the daily rewards from yesterday and today. These are both small improvements that we think will go a long way in making the game easier for people to play and enjoy!

First, we will be adding player action lists to the back of each Brethren of the Coast card! This shows players what they are able to do on each turn and is especially useful when teaching the game to your friends.

Second, we’ll be sprucing up the rubber playing mat to make it look even more like a treasure map! This will include increasing the length of the map for a bigger playing space, designing and adding a compass rose, and adding a map “legend” that will show slots for each of the 5 Event cards.

Many of these improvements were ideas submitted from our backers. Thank you for your feedback and contributions to make this game even better. We’ll be announcing our final daily reward tomorrow!

Only 35 hours to go!

Daily Reward #3! Just 10 Hours to go!
Posted by Travis Hancock (Creator)

Backers and Friends,

We’re nearly at the finish line!

As our final way of saying thank you, we’ll be adding one more card into the game.

On the back of this card we’ll have a quick-start reference guide. This is especially useful for groups who have played before but have brought along a new friend or two. Rather than spend 10 minutes explaining the rules to them, you can hand them this card and be on your way :) We found ourselves wishing for a card like this during many of our playtests.

On the front of this card we’re going to display a new illustration from Sarah commemorating the “maiden voyage” of Tortuga 1667. This card will only be included in 1st Editions of the game, so in 20 years when it's still on bookshelves around the world you’ll have proof that you were one of the people who brought it to life.

Only 10 hours to go! Thank you for your incredible support throughout this journey! When the campaign ends we will send out another update about the next steps. We can't wait to make this game and get it into your hands!

Bom dia!

Finalized Designs & Manufacturing Progress
Posted by Travis Hancock (Creator)

Backers and Friends,

We wanted to give you quick update on Tortuga 1667's progress.

As promised, we've updated and improved the playing board! This board includes a few more "map" elements, a new compass rose, slots for the Event cards, and a layout on Tortuga that improves gameplay. Here's a sneak peak at the new board:

Holly has also been hard at work improving the look of the Brethren of the Coast cards! She's designed a special wax seal that will match the pawn color of each player. Here's a look at a few of the new cards with their matching seals:

We've also been busy working with our manufacturer and have already started receiving some initial samples. There's still a long ways to go to get these made, but we're making great progress.

We'll update you again in a couple weeks. If you ordered the Print & Play version, expect to see an email notification with your download link later this month.

Hope you all are doing well!

Production Underway!
Posted by Travis Hancock (Creator)

Backers and Friends,

We're happy to report that Tortuga 1667's production is moving along nicely! We're working daily with our manufacturer to make sure that every detail is spot on. We've received samples of the book, the playing mat, and the treasure bag and we love the quality of each of them. You'll notice that we've lightened the bag color to better capture the sun-bleached canvas of the pirate world.

We'll update you again on Tortuga 1667's progress later this month. Have a great week!

Tortuga 1667 on the High Seas!
Posted by Travis Hancock (Creator)

Backers and Friends,

The pirates of Tortuga 1667 are feeling right at home as they cross the ocean! We're currently boating the games to our fulfillment partners around the world. After they arrive, we'll send the games to you!

There have been some delays in the Shanghai port so the boat left a little later than we'd have liked, but we're still doing everything we can to reach the August delivery deadline. Since travel time on the boats can also be somewhat unpredictable, we'll be sure to keep you posted. It's usually 6-8 weeks to get shipping containers moved and through customs.

In honor of Tortuga's travels, we'll leave you with a closer look at the British, French, and Dutch flags that determine your loyalty in the game.

We hope you're having a wonderful summer!

Travis & Holly

Tortuga 1667 Nearing Port!
Posted by Travis Hancock (Creator)

Backers and Friends,

We're getting closer! The games are currently on three different vessels making their way to ports in the UK, Germany, and Boston! All are scheduled to arrive in those ports near the end of the month. If you'd like to track the ships' progress you can go to https://www.marinetraffic.com/ and search for the YM UBIQUITY (USA), COSCO Portugal (Germany), and Salahuddin (UK). It's kind of addicting :)

Once the games reach the ports it will then take a couple weeks to clear customs and get the games from the port to our warehouses. With 12,000+ orders to ship out, it will then take a week or two to get everything shipped, so we anticipate that everyone will receive their games during the last couple weeks of August. We'll keep you posted!

Here's a fun pic of a couple pallets of Tortuga 1667 before they hopped on the boat.

Hope you all are having a great summer!

Locking Down Addresses!
Posted by Travis Hancock (Creator)

Backers and Friends,

We're getting closer! The USA games have arrived to our fulfillment center, and the Germany and UK games should get to our EU/World fulfillment centers very soon. Right now the plan is to finalize everything and begin shipping all of the games on August 14th! Since there are so many orders, our centers will be shipping out games until around August 25th. We'll do our best to get all the games out towards the beginning of that timeline, but we're also grateful for your patience if you don't get your copy til later in the month.

We'll post another update once the games begin shipping! In the meantime, enjoy a few of our favorite photos from a recent photoshoot with the production sample copy:
