Single Player Games

Tal como deve acontecer com muitos de vós, nem sempre consigo arranjar parceiros para jogar (ou melhor, raramente consigo).

Por este motivo, tenho vindo a interessar-me ultimamente por Single Player games ou Multi PG, que tenham tambem a possibilidade de jogar a solo.

Já pesquisei no BGG, e encontrei alguns que talvez me pudessem interessar, (wargames cujo tema seja a WWII, são os preferidos no momento) como são o caso do Lock ' Load, Ambush.

Não faço ideia se são muito complexos ou não, mas tambem, e principalmente isso, não consigo descobrir onde os comprar.

Alguem me pode ajudar, não só em relação a onde encontrar estes jogos, mas tambem, sugerindo outros deste género e não só.

PS: o Arkham Horror, tambem já vi que tem muito boas criticas em relação á sua jogabilidade a solo, e não é dificil de encontrar. O meu receio é, que talvez seja um pouco "pesado" em termos de regras e passe mais tempo a tentar percebê-las que a jogar. Estarei certo?

Quanto a parceiros, não sei se já foste à Runadrake. Há pessoal para wargames, é uma questão de combinar.
Geralmente as regras dos wargames são publicadas nos sites dos fabricantes e tb no boardgamegeek.com, pelo que podes ter a ideia da complexidade dos jogos.
Por fim, vai a vassalengine.org e vê o que por lá há. É um site com dezenas de wargames para jogar online contra outras pessoas ( é um tabuleiro virtual).

Já estive na Runadrake algumas vezes, mas e só (pelo menos até agora) para adquirir alguns jogos, em tempo de "saldos" :) . Não me tem sido possível ficar mais, para disfrutar de uns joguitos com o pessoal que lá vai. Em relação aos jogos que falei, Ambush e Lock n' Load, não sabes onde os poderei encontrar? É que, pelo que vi dos jogos no BGG, seria o género que pretendo experimentar. Esses ou outros idênticos. No vassal, já joguei ao Memoir 44, é fixe, mas jogar em frente ao PC, já estou um bocadinho cansado.

Mas o C&C não dá para Solo, pois não?

É que já tenho o memoir que parece-me ser baseado no c&C.

Curiosamente até dá. Foi assim que comecei a jogá-lo.
O sistema é semelhante ao do Memoir, mas é, na minha opinião, muito melhor. O evade, battle back e líderes fazem toda a diferença. Para além de haver mais diversidade de unidades.
Se puderes ir 4ª à Runa eu levo para experimentares.

jogam-se muito bem a solo o Carcassonne e o Alhambra, embora ambos exijam umas adaptações mínimas às regras.

Tentei o Runebound. Pode jogar-se solo mas é um pouco chato.

I in general have big problems making it to Runadrake to play games, due to my working hours, unfortunately.

If your problem is similar, and you are looking for games to play solitaire, then try something like Advanced Squad Leader Starter Kit. It has simple rules, is WWII, and has enough randomness to make it interesting. Some people will find ASL complex, but it is not really. It IS certainly more complex than eg CC:A, but playing solitaire it can be nice with something of a more complex 'simulation' game, than a quick game.

Playing card games is a bit tricky solitaire, obviously. One way to do it, is to not have a 'hand' of cards on each side, but instead draw a limited number of cards, lets say two each round, and then choose one for that turn, and discard the other. In that way you will never know what options your virtual opponent has, but you will always have a limited set of options when you play a side.

I dont have any single player games, but if I was looking for them, then I would probably go for one of the bomber games, B-17: Queen of the Skies or B-29: Fighting Fortress (these titles may not be completely correct). Or RAF, but I think that one is difficult to get.

Another alternative to VASSAL is CyberBoard. As opposed to VASSAL, which is great for real-time play, CyberBoard is by far the best option for play-by-email. Using CyberBoard, you simply download your opponents move, then do you own, and send it back. In this way, you dont have to find time to play at the same time as your opponent. CyberBoard also automatically saves all files, and you can easily 'watch' you entire game from start to finish, any time.

And, besides Runadrake, Planetongames is a great place to get games.

jogar carcassone a solo? fiquei curioso agora...

Quanto a Single Player, é perfeitamente possível jogar Pandemic sozinho, basta para isso dominar dois peões...

And yes, ASL is a two-player, but I mentioned it, as I had the impression that you might be interested in playing multi-player games solo. But actually, now that I think about it, somebody made a system called SASL (solitaire ASL) for which you can find more information on the net. I dont know the details about this, as I have never tried it. Anyway, I know that many people find it ok to play ASL solo (there are for example a bunch of solitaire replays on BoardGameGeek by a guy called MerricB, that I like to read).

As I said, I have never tried single player games, but there should be quite some. Go to BGG and search for solo games, or make a post asking for it - people are always willing to make some lists of possibilities. I have heard Pocket Civilization mentioned as an ok quick solo game.

I have to admit that I dont know how to get the B-17/29 games. The B-17 is an old one and might be difficult. I think the 29 one is new, so it should be for sale somewhere. Again, go to BGG and search for it. Actually, I just did, and it the right name is B-29 Superfortress, made by Kyber Pass Games, and it is from 2008 (so pretty new). https://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/28907 - You can go here, and at the top click on the "1-player" (written in green) - that should take you to a bunch for single player games. It gives 8 pages of games, but I can see that they are not all dedicated single players - you will have to go through some of them.

As I said before, and you might think otherwise, for me when I play solo it is more satisfying (if you have the table space) to play a longer, more complex simulation game (such as Totaler Krieg, Empire of the Sun, ASL) than a quick more gamey game (such as Carcassonne or CC:A) Now people will complain that I call CC:A for a gamey game. This is one of my favorites though, and its great with an opponent, but I doubt that it is great solo.

For now, i can say too you, that i'm more interested in Lock n' Load 's Band of Heroes, but haven't yet decided. Smile

Joguei o jogo uma vez na sexta passada e não achei as regras complicadas, há é mt cartas e mt acontecimentos possíveis (mas eu joguei com uma data de expensões), mas as regras do jogo são faceis de compreender.

Outro jogo que joguei que vi que seria bom como solitário é o Pandemic, embora não sei se nas regras vem uma versão para 1 ou não mas como é um jogo cooperativo sem traidores não é preciso adaptação nenhuma.

O B-17 e o RAF são clássicos que poderás encontrar por norma na eBay. O RAF é excelente e bem melhor que o B-17.

Ppodes ainda encontrar outros como o Runebound, e o já citado Arkham Horror, isto para fugir aos wargames.

Nos wargames, por norma os que não usem mecanismos de Fog of War (Blocos, cartas, etc) são sempre jogáveis a 1. A Victory Lost ou The Russian Campaign são exemplos excelentes.

Obrigado pelas dicas.

Pelo que pesquisei até agora, estou tentado a comprar o Lock n' Load: Band of Heroes. Conheces este jogo e o seu sistema? Se sim, o que pensas dele? Embora não seja um Single Player, pelo menos no BGG, já li muitas criticas positivas em relação á jogabilidade a solo.

Outros em que pensei: Combat Commander Europe, Field Commander Rommel

I have the impression that CCE would not be an optimal solo game, due to all the card play, but thats maybe just me. I would love to have RAF which should be great, however, I think it goes at very high prices over eBay, if I am not mistaken. Field Commander looks good to me. I just saw that there are also other games from Dan Verssen Games that come in pdf format - you can either play them on vassal, or simply print them out, if you dont want to sit with it in front of the computer (which I dont like much). The good thing about the pdf format is that the price, for eg Hornet Leader II, is only 15$, this something like 10-12 euros, and according to the company, you get it more or less right away. I will try one of these - probably next week, so if you can wait, I can tell you how it is.
