Unfortunately, I only played "The Dark Eye", a pen and paper from Germany. It easily stands its ground to DND in the complexity of its lore and has a gigantic and (ultimately horribly complicated) rule system. I always wanted to try some alternative, which puts more stress on role-playing aspect than featuring a vast and intricate rule system which barely anyone can oversee anymore (and gives munchkins all the power).
I'd love to travel into other worlds far from the standard sword-and-sorcery setting with a bigger aspect of actual role-playing instead of only following set cemented paths or throw dice.
