I like the game very much. Full of important decisions, strong but elegant mechanics. A pure area control game from a great designer (M. Wallace). The historic content is present all the time during the game. edit #1: A solid eight I say. edit#2: What a game!!! edit#3: OK. I surrender!!! The most wonderful experiences I've ever had playing a board game were with Liberté. A very, very special game. Cards can be decisive to victory and a bit of king making is also possible in some games, specially 3 player games but I still like to play Liberté and it is one of those games in which I don't mind losing because of whatever reason because I have fun always and everytime I play it. One of the great things I feel in this game is exactly the fact of having the same amount of fun and strategy that a great game requires.

Asur-+ Exciting and very competitive. I love the fact that you need to cooperate and calculate risks. - The difference between the cards and board colors is terrible (fixed with the new edition, it seems). A bit confusing gameplay.

hmocc-A heavier game than what I have been playing lately, this game has plenty to keep you busy, but for first-timers is a bit unforgiving. I managed a last-gasp 2nd place ex-aequo with the yellow player (I was playing grey) but this game saw a runaway leader too soon and became a little bit boring. Again, very high expectations let me down. Not the game's fault, just me thinking it was going to be awsome and it was just very good. #18/10/2008: 2nd play won by me on sudden death by counter revolution. This game is only good when played by 4 people that know each other well AND have played this several times. Not so good with newbies and casual gamers.

The upside: - The theme and how well it connects with mechanics. - It's tense and possibly mean (Some cards are veeeery mean). - I like it when you have to be the one who controls the majority of the most represented faction. The downside: - The rulebook.

I've enjoyed my first and only play so far but I can't make other comments. To play again.

One of the best Wallace designs. Deep, complex and strategic, a great gamer's game.

Downgraded it from 8 to 6. Doesn't scale well. Should not be played with more than 4. A bit too much randomness and rules complexity -(typical Wallace's games). Bad graphic colours. Very easily drives to kingmaking or leader-destruction as with more than 4 players it goes chaotic.
