pitris7.0Yet another worker placement game! This is Die Macher's creator take on the subject and the usual imaginative and interesting solutions are present. Schmiel's design adds a card game layer to the mix, several paths to victory and even configurable winning conditions. The result is a fast paced, gamer's game, with a lot of interesting decisions. A nice comeback from Mr. Schmiel!

It's one of the best games of 2007. The mechanics are not original and the game is a bit abstract. Also the chariots, although very cool, are exaggerated and not necessary at all! But I think the game is very well balanced and putted together! Everything works very well with nice and simple rules. This one was play-tested a lot and it is very well designed and polished. A medium euro very well produced. Components are superb. It's one of the best games released in 2007. The artwork is very beautiful. Mr. Schmiel doesn't publish that many games but he really has some unique feeling titles. It's not that his games are completely original but they sure have a strong appealing to players. I own too many games and when this happens, when you're picking up a game to play, Mr. Schmiel's games are always a possibility just because they are really good games that when comparing with similar ones by other designers they really seem to show up more like they have more personality sort of speaking. Die Macher, A La Carte and Tribune are all part of this class. Games I own and that I would play for the rest of my life. 60/70 minutes It's easy to play the German edition!

I really, really like the game. I can easily see why this was above Agricola in the Fairplay poll at Essen 2007. I feel that 5 players may not be the best number, but have yet to try all the objectives variants and also the point-scoring variant.

Another success for Mr Die Macher. The mechanics and final art of the game are as usual great. Maybe a little too mathematical...
